Black History Month Spotlight: Mackenzie Majors

Mackenzie Majors’ journey in tennis is shaped by both her experience as an athlete and

her deep commitment to community. As a Black player in the tennis world, she understands firsthand how powerful representation can be. Seeing someone who looks like you on the court can shift what feels possible and create a sense of belonging in a space that has not always felt inclusive.

Her path has been influenced by mentors, competition, and the drive to test herself through the game. Along the way, she has drawn inspiration from those who came before her and from the resilience required to navigate the sport with confidence and purpose.

Today, Mackenzie channels that experience into giving back. Through her organization, 5:10 Society, she is using tennis as a way to bring her community together. By hosting events and meetups, she is socializing the game and creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, build relationships, and feel seen. As both an athlete and a passionate member of the NorCal community, she is intentional about expanding access and creating opportunities for others to engage with the sport in meaningful ways.

When she thinks about what a more inclusive tennis community looks like, she envisions one rooted in access, visibility, and opportunity. A community where beginners feel just as valued as seasoned players, where leadership reflects the diversity of those on court, and where the game is truly accessible to everyone.

This Black History Month, we’re glad to recognize Mackenzie as part of our tennis community.
