USTA NorCal shall rank junior players in singles and doubles in the boys' and girls' 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 age divisions. Rankings shall be based on a Points Per Round (PPR) ranking system. The PPR system is based on the accumulation of points for winning rounds at a player's best eight sectional ranking tournaments in a previous 12-month period. Sectional singles and doubles Final Ranking Lists will be published at least monthly in accordance with the below ranking rules. Only points earned in the division will count towards ranking in that division. There is no minimum point requirement to be ranked. Doubles players shall be ranked individually.

1.

Ranking Eligibility — Only those players who are residents of Northern California are eligible to receive rankings.

2.

Ranking Points Tables — Players shall earn points for winning rounds at sectional ranking tournaments that are set forth on the Ranking Points Tables, subject to the following: player must win a round to receive any points for tournaments. Byes do not qualify as wins. Withdrawals, walkovers, retirements and disqualifications count as wins.

3.

Players who violate the Concurrent Tournament Rule shall forfeit all ranking points earned at the concurrent tournament.

4.

Defaults Under the Point Penalty System — A player who is defaulted from a tournament for code violations under the Point Penalty System or misconduct forfeits any points accumulated during the tournament. Players defaulted in singles only lose points accumulated for play in the singles draws. Players defaulted in doubles only lose points accumulated for play in the doubles draws. If, in the opinion of the referee, a playerŐs partner causes a default in doubles, that player will not lose the points accumulated.

5.

Sectional Final Ranking Lists — Singles and doubles sectional Final Ranking Lists shall be published at least monthly in the Boys' and Girls' 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 age divisions. The rankings for singles and doubles in a junior age division shall include all players who are age eligible for play in the division on the date of publication of the lists. Sectional Final Ranking Lists for an age group will be used for selection into limited-draw tournaments in that age division.

6.

Tiebreak Rules for Sectional Final Ranking Lists — Tiebreak on a sectional Final Ranking List shall be determined as follows:

  1. A player whose best event has the highest number of points, second best, third best, etc. through eight events.
  2. Best random draw number.

7.

Player Record Corrections — Players are responsible for regularly reviewing their player records and for submitting corrections and additions to Summer Verhoeven at verhoeven@norcal.usta.com. Players should review their records and report changes and corrections on a biweekly basis.

Once you have won one match in a sanctioned USTA NorCal tournament, you will have earned ranking points and your name will appear on a ranking list. It's easy to track how you're doing by viewing the ranking lists.

8.

Local Rankings — The director of junior tennis may publish local rankings that reflect play by juniors residing in a specific geographical area, however, these local rankings shall not be used for acceptance into USTA NorCal sanctioned tournaments or for endorsement into national tournaments.

Visit the Local Leadboard here.

The Ranking Points Tables that follow are for both singles and doubles. Points are earned based on the player's results in the tournament - a champion receives the points in the "Champion" row, a player reaching the round of 32 receives the points in the "Reached R32" row, etc. For an explanation of how consolation points are awarded, please refer to the footnotes that accompany each table.
