The USTA NorCal Tournament
Assistance Grant program offers financial
assistance to all junior tennis players who cannot afford to enter and
play tennis tournaments within the Northern California Section.
All USTA NorCal residents junior members
are eligible.
A Tournament Assistance Grant may be
applied only to tournament entry fees.
If approved, an individual will be
allowed to enter a maximum of eight tournaments at 50% off the
tournament entry fee.
All tournament players will enter the
tournament either through the online registration system or by mailing
a standard entry form to the tournament director. Upon completing the
tournament, the player will receive a refund of 50% of the entry fee.
All signatures must be included in order
for the application to be considered.
A Tournament Assistance Grant may be
applied for at any time during the calendar year and, if approved, is
good through the end of the calendar year.
Forms can be downloaded from the USTA
NorCal website. A signed copy should be sent to your Community
Coordinator. The Community Coordinator will sign it and send it to the
USTA NorCal office.

The basis for Travel
Assistance will be individual's inability to participate in the event
as a representative of USTA NorCal unless their travel and
accommodations, in whole or in part, is made available. Travel
assistance funds may only be used for players' expenses, travel and
accommodations. Rental car expenses are not included. If travel to the
event is by car, not air, a mileage allowance is given. Except in
extraordinary circumstances, an individual will not be granted more
than $500 in travel assistance in a calendar year. Please allow five
weeks for the endorsement approval. CLICK HERE for
information and application for Travel Assistance and Tournament
Assistance Grants. |

The program now
includes both day and overnight camp scholarships. Nike Tennis Camps
provides several scholarships to their week-long camps. USTA NorCal
also continues its support of the Junior Training Camp at Sonoma State
University. Scholarship selection is determined by age, interest in
tennis, good sportsmanship and financial need. All expenses are paid,
except transportation to and from the camp. The application
deadline for camp scholarship requests is April 7, 2007.
Contact David Hong at hong@norcal.usta.com
if you are interested in applying for any of these scholarships.
NOTES:
Juniors who receive tennis camp scholarships or any special
opportunities provided by the USTA or USTA NorCal (training camps,
etc.) should write a letter of appreciation to the appropriate
directors and coaches.
