The NorCal Open Series is a points race for men's and women's Open singles. The format is similar to that of the Grand Prix system in which all tournaments played during a certain period of time will count toward the series.

The winner of the women's points race will be presented an award at the Section's annual Big Bold Bash awards banquet and free entry into the prestigious California Women's Open at Seascape Sports and Racquet Club.

The winner of the men's points race will be presented an award at the Big Bold Bash, a wildcard into the qualifying tournament of the $75k Comerica Challenger at the Seascape Sports Club, and, by also winning the prestigious Stead Open, a wildcard into the SAP Open Qualifying tournament.

This is a season long points race for men's open level players. The player at the top of the points race, if they also win the Stead Open men's singles event, will earn a wildcard into the following year's SAP open qualifier. This is a wonderful chance for a player to earn treasured ATP points by winning the SAP Open Qualifier and earning a spot in the main draw. The NorCal men's open tournaments that qualify for the Series points race are all unlimited draw men's open events begginning with the 53rd Annual Challenge Cup Open in January and concluding with the Carmel Valley Athletic Club Men's Open in early August.

The NorCal Open Series points accumulated will be equal to the points a player receives toward his ranking. The ranking points are based on a player's placement in a tournament. The USTA NorCal Open adults points table on the web will define the points for the series. Totals will be tabulated and published periodically by staff. Please review the points table and remember that tournaments with $2,000 or more in prize money combined will multiply the points earned by 1.5 times. The list will be called the Wildcard list on the NorCal website. We look forward to another year with this exciting Series. It should provide lots of interest in the months to come starting with the Carmel Valley Athletic Club March Open and culminating at the Stead Open in August.

Congratulations to the 2006 Men's Winner Bryan Juinio of Fresno and Women's Winner Carolyn Nichols of Lodi.
